A Liturgy For Mornings With Kids

From the moment  the sun breaks in

your ears start to hear the morning rolling in

& eyes inch open—

Another day is on the rise

Feet patter to your side

“I’m hungry,” “Where are we going today?”

Your mind already making the mental checklist of all the to-do’s from the haven’t finished yesterdays

Then, an invitation comes from the Spirit to

P A U S E

To look deep within their eyes

To say “Good Morning” to give them a squeeze and remember this togetherness won’t last forever.

Invite the Spirit to put a balm over your overwhelm and replace it with

peace

To remember HE gives you this day your daily bread and unfathomably never grows weary.

Lift yourself up from slumber, let your feet hit the ground as the image of Jesus washing his children’s feet clings to your mind.

This isn’t your lot, this is your gift.

Not a burden to bear

But a lightness to care

through your Father’s tender mercy.

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”

Psalms 143:8 NIV
