Lord of the Seasons
Leader
Yahweh, You are Lord of the seasons.
You set the rhythms of this spinning earth.
All
Each rotation a turn closer to eternity.
Leader
In youth, the ebbs and flows were constant.
From the start of classes and Christmas Break
To summer eves with dripping ice cold glasses.
The starts and ends and in-betweens baked into life.
Those days feel far.
Every day now the same.
A never-ending beat of the humdrum.
The earth still spins in endless rotation.
We blow through time, pursuing just one more dime
Like an old bear, we stumble from our slumber.
Another meal, another number, blind to the magic in the air. The wonder we used to feel, dampened by our hunger.
Wake us and take us to days long ago.
All
Shake us. Break us. Make us feel again.
Leader
Drown our doubts with spontaneous Spring rain.
Set our passion ablaze with Summer’s noon sun.
Tenderly catch us with falling Autumn leaves.
Make our hearts pure with Winter's first snow.
All
Yahweh, you are the Lord of the seasons.
